The energy of CTV-21 and our base of regular interns was amplified Tuesday evening as 2 productions were conducted s-i-m-u-l-t-a-n-e-o-u-s-l-y (Thank you spell check!). Mark led a team of 5 to Madison Middle School in Trumbull to record the 5th Grade spelling bee sponsored by the Trumbull Community Women.
The shoot went smoothly thanks to the help of Laura, Rocco, Jaime, John, and Bob. Even in this media-happy world it was a surprise to see no parents there with camcorders to capture this memorable moment.
Meanwhile, back at the studio, Megan and Barbi and 5 interns were working together to capture 2 more episodes of Local Edition. Phyllis Cortese has been with us now for over 2 years and her contribution to the show is invaluable. She and the interns are the fuel that keep this engine running.Thank you Sean, Steve, Brennan, Taylor, and Brian.

The building was suffering that night from from an issue with the UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) and unfortunately, the power for the control room equipment went out before the 2nd episode could be completed. Look for a new date for Local Edition to be posted soon.
Here are the events and productions scheduled for the upcoming weeks:

Here are the events and productions scheduled for the upcoming weeks:
- We have opened up Monday nights to be a regular intern gathering night. Don't have a project? Need some help brainstorming the next big idea? Want to learn another aspect of production? Join the Monday Night Focus Group! Starts around 7pm every Monday.
- "How to Host Your Own Show" a free presentation open to interns and the public. You see other people do it, you may have thought, "What's their secret? How do you talk to a camera like it's a person?" Find out on Tuesday April 28th at 7pm. Space is limited, so please call and reserve a seat.
- "Rabbi Rock" This is a religious public affairs program that has been with us for several years. The topics cross over many faiths and feature people in the local community. We are seeing his crew dwindle over the years, and the time has come to post these tapings for interns. They only require about 3-4 interns, but it is a great way to sharpen your skills and accumulate hours. Next Taping is Monday, May 4th from 3 -6pm.
- "Brookfield Knights of Columbus" This is a small group from a Brookfield chapter that is trying to get their show off the ground. They could use a few interns to augment their ranks. Next taping is Tuesday May 5th at 7pm.
- "Jane Ryan Elementary Circus" This is a mobile truck taping of a circus performed by the students of Jane Ryan Elementary School in Trumbull. The daytime hours make this a challenge to fill crew positions, but we pulled it off last year and hope to once again. Crew call is 9:30am for a 1pm taping on Wednesday May 6th.
Keep spreading the word about the internship. We have posted the latest course schedule and syllabus on the CTV-21 web site, please send the curious there or to our main number (203) 304-4050.
I had a great time helping out at the Trumbull 5th Grade Spelling Bee Truck Shoot. As always, it was wonderful working alongside such dedicated fellow crew members.
ReplyDeleteOf course, Mark was the glue that held everything together as he did a fantastic job in managing the crew and coordinating and producing the shoot.
In addition, I was truly inspired by all the bright 5th graders that participated in the spelling bee. I was amazed at how poised they were under pressure while standing in front of judges, an audience, and TV cameras. As I was behind the camera, I was pulling for each and everyone of them.
I look forward to my next shoot!
All my best,
Rocco Clericuzio
Right on Rocco! Those kids were very calm and collected and gave us some great footage. Looking forward to seeing the editted version! This was the first time I was asked to do some pretty intense camera movements and I was really enjoying it! Being a part of Public Access provides experience you just can't get anywhere else!
ReplyDeleteWhen will the Spelling Bee be aired on CTV-21?
